Enjoying The 59th Boat Race at Belakang Padang, Batam
There are many ways to celebrate 71st Indonesia Independence Day. At Belakang Padang, Batam, Riau Island, the people held traditional boat race – kolek – to celebrate Indonesia Independence Day. There are 26 koleks which was participated at the event. Participants at that event is not only from Belakang Padang, it is also from Karimun, Riau Island, and Malaysia.
The traditional boat racing in Belakang Padang was very exciting. During the event, the audience kept yelling to support the favorite team. They also did not hesitate to stand around the bridge. The audience is not only the local residents of Belakang Padang or the resident of Batam Island, but also the international tourists – from Malaysia, Singapore and Korea.
The tourists are very interested to saw the annual event. They capture every moment of the event. Actually, that traditional boat race is very festive. That event is held since 1957. It means that event is held since 59 years ago.
In that event, the tourist and visitor can also enjoyed many traditional culinary, such as Kerak Telor, Prata, Rambut Nenek, and Cendol.
