Favorite Destinations to Spend Your Day in Batam
Batam is one of the most beautiful beach paradises in Indonesia. Batam has various kinds of water spot, coral reef, and colorful fish. Here are some of the best handpicked weekend break destinations in Batam. Check it out!
Stay at Resort
If you are not that fussed about activities like diving or snorkeling, and would much rather drink cocktails and laze on the beach, you can spend your time at resort. There so many resorts in Batam, like Nongsa Point Marina & Resort, Montigo Resorts, Palm Spring Golf & Resort, Harris Resort, and KTM Resort.
Getting away from the crowds makes Nongsa Point Marina & Resort is one of my favorite resort in Batam. You can really enjoyed your weekend in this Mediterranean touch resort. Moreover, the resort offers variety of recreational facilities including a spa, water sport, and boat charters for fishing and island hoping.
Getting There: Find your way to Nongsa, Batam, or you can call the resort staff to pick you up at meeting point in Batam.
Travel Time: 30 minutes from Batam Centre International Ferry Terminal.
Enjoy Underwater Sport
If you like a challenging activity, you can try underwater sport – snorkel or dive. One of the islands in Batam that have beautiful underwater is Abang Island. That island has beautiful beaches with coral reefs and various kinds of colorful fish, like chaetodontidae, heniochus, and clown fish or Nemo – the fish in “Finding Nemo”.
Not only looking the reefs and colorful fishes, in that trip we can also exploring the little island such as Nguan Island, Abang Island, Ranoh Island, and Dedap Island. My favorite is Dedap Island. There’s no inhabitant in Dedap Island, so we can feel like Robinson Crusoe which stranded at a tiny island.
Getting There: Make your own way to Pari Port at the sixth of Barelang Bridge. It’s recommended if you take a snorkeling tour with Galang Bahari. From there the staff of Galang Bahari will pick you up.
Travel Time: 60 up to 90 minutes from Batam Centre International Ferry Terminal.
Explore the Beach
If you do not have much time, you can go to the beach. There’s so many beautiful beaches in Batam. My favorite beaches are all the beaches around Barelang Bridge, but the most is Melayu Beach at the fourth of Barelang Bridge. In that beach we can enjoy the water sports – one of them is banana boats.
I also love the awnings which provided in that place. In that awning, we can sleep – relaxing and enjoying the freshwater. There are more than 10 awnings that can used by the visitors. For this paradise we only have to pay Rp10,000 for every person.
Do not worry, if you can not prepare a meals, you can come to the some restaurants around the beach. There’s so many restaurants which offer various food and drink. You just choose and pick the one that you like. Do not worry, the price is affordable.
Getting There: Make your own way to that beach or you call travel agent to organize and pick you up there.
Travel Time: 45 minutes from Batam Centre International Ferry Terminal.
Eat at Seafood Restaurant
Enjoy your vacation with eating at seafood restaurant, aka “Kelong”. There are many seafood restaurants in Batam such as Sri Redjeki, Golden Prawn, Mak Uteh, but my favorite is Kelong Jawa-Melayu in Tanjung Piayu. The taste is delicious, but the price is affordable. For 4-5 person, we just spend Rp1,000,000-Rp1,200,000.
I like the ambience of this kelong. We can enjoy the sea breezes and see the fisherman who were fishing by the boat. Sometime we also can see the visitor which was enjoying the speed boat or banana boat.
Getting There: Make your own way to that beach or you call travel agent to organize and pick you up there.
Travel Time: 30 minutes from Batam Centre International Ferry Terminal.
